A Proper English Garden Party Wedding at Barff House in East Yorkshire
This one was a little bit different for me as I was both guest and photographer at John & Becky’s wedding. John is my fiancee’s brother and my soon to be brother in law, Becky is his lovely wife. They got engaged while travelling the world together last Spring and the story is both fantastic and romantic. John is a super talented filmmaker, so naturally, he documented the whole process of choosing the ring and gathering the courage to ask Becky to marry him. His proposal vlog has quickly become one of the families favourite home movies!
A Great Tale of Barn Renovation
John and Becky chose to have their wedding at John’s parent’s house in picturesque East Yorkshire in the village of Brandesburton. They bought and are renovating a gorgeous old farmhouse complete with tup sheds, barns and what used to be a cart shed but is now a stunning 5* premium holiday let. John & Becky decided to hire a marquee for the front lawn courtesy of Village Farm Marquess and have their evening reception in the barn…
The only small problem was that the barn was a working grain store with no windows and two very narrow doors. So began the six-month project of knocking down walls, creating doorways, clearing rubble, painting and making it fit for a wedding celebration.
As you’ll see from the photos – it looks stunning. I’m especially excited and pleased with how it turned out as this is where I will be marrying my gorgeous fiancee Ellie in the summer of 2018.
UPDATE – John’s parents have now decided to market this stunning country barn and farmhouse as a wedding venue. You can check out all the details of Barff House in East Yorkshire on Hitched.co.uk. This is especially exciting as I was the first person to ever photograph a wedding at this amazing venue and I’m excited to photograph many more there in the future!
