A STUNNING SUMMER KASTEEL WIJENBURG WEDDING IN THE NETHERLANDS
Dani and Neil got married at the beautiful Kasteel Wijenburg, the Netherlands this summer. It was a wonderful summery wedding, with wildflowers as the main decor and so much colour everywhere. Dani is German and Neil is British so choosing a venue in either Germany or England wouldn’t have been fair to one side of the family. The only decision… was to make everyone travel to the Netherlands to the exquisite Kasteel Wijenburg. When they first contacted me about photographing their Kasteel Wijenburg wedding I knew that this was one wedding I just had to photograph!
Dani got ready at Kasteel Wijenburg in the gorgeous library, and there was such an exciting vibe. She wore a stunningly detailed laced dress and looked so beautiful. It was so much fun to spend the morning with her and her daughter and friends. The library at Kasteel Wijenburg was the most beautiful place to get ready as it had great views out over the grounds and gave the best light for doing makeup and hair styling in.
The ceremony at Dani & Neil’s Kasteel Wijenburg wedding took place in a beautiful room with historic features. The ceremony area was filled with flowers, which was just brilliant because it was an intimate wedding. The ceremony began with Dani’s daughter playing the piano, and finished with a sweeping first kiss. It was a wonderful ceremony, full of lots of laughter and so much love. Pauline Suidgeest was the celebrant and she conducted one of my favourite ever services – full of emotion and wholeheartedly genuine.
After the ceremony, the couple mingled with their guests, which was the perfect time for me to get candid photos. Then we took some time out for photos, which is such a great time for the newly married couple to have some time to let it sink in. I got some awesome portrait photos in the forest and around the stunning grounds of Kasteel Wijenburg. The weather was perfect, it was a beautiful day and that weekend was one of the hottest on record EVER in the Netherlands.
Dani and Neil chose to have their wedding at Kasteel Wijenburg because it has so many options, and they could have the place for the whole weekend. Kasteel Wijenburg had accommodation for most of the guests and had so many function rooms including a fully functioning cellar bar. The possibilities were truly endless at Kasteel Wijenburg.
Kasteel Wijenburg is a huge castle, and it’s got such a romantic vibe, especially in the evenings when the sun goes down.
For the reception, the couple had planned a cocktail drinks reception for their guests and a slideshow during the meal and speeches, everyone had so much fun – especially with the traditional Bavarian traditions which popped up throughout the day such as a log sawing. Everyone was then called in for dinner, which was a fab sit down meal. It was absolutely delicious. They had speeches during the meal, which were really touching – and very funny due to the translations for the mix of British and German guests.
After dinner, the band started up to get the party started, and the dance floor was packed all night. The live band kept the party going all night.
The evening ended with a ceilidh, which was incredible – especially because the German guests along with Dani and Neil got changed into a traditional Bavarian dress.
The whole wedding was everything I love about weddings, from the beautiful vows to the awesome live band.
I loved this Kasteel Wijenburg wedding so much. If you’re getting married and looking for a Kasteel Wijenburg wedding photographer, get in touch.
