Oaklands Grand Lodge Yorkshire wedding – Ruth and Guy

If you’re planning a wedding at Oaklands Grand Lodge in Yorkshire, you’ll love this wedding for inspiration!
Ruth and Guy got married at Oaklands Grand Lodge, which is a modern barn in Yorkshire with stunning grounds. It was the most beautiful wedding and the sun shone all day long!
The ceremony
The ceremony was a legal ceremony beside a lake. During the ceremony they had several beautiful readings from friends and family. It was really beautiful.
They decorated the area with wildflowers, which I loved. The reception was in the main hall at Oaklands Grand Lodge – I love this venue because it has so many great opportunities for portraits. Weddings at Oaklands Grand Lodge are amazing, because the surroundings are just incredible.
Why Oaklands Grand Lodge is a great place to get married
Oaklands Grand Lodge is perfect for couples who want a big party, and is one of the best places to get married in Yorkshire. The venue offers an amazing atmosphere for a wedding – and there are so many beautiful spots that are perfect for photos.
The reception
The couple had a cocktail drinks reception in the afternoon, and live music in the evening. For dinner they had tasty sharing boards, and the first dance was a romantic slow dance at sunset outside on the terrace with all their friends and family gathered round. They finished off the evening with a sparkler exit.
The couple
Ruth wore a classic white dress and Guy wore a three-piece suit and they looked really perfect.
The couple got in touch with me years ago, and their enquiry was so personal. They said they wanted a photographer who would be like a guest, and I loved that they just wanted to party. Ruth and Guy are my ideal type of client, they wanted stunning photographs without the boring part of standing around for posed portraits. They really dug my candid style and laid back documentary approach to getting that epic editorial vibe of imagery.
Advice for planning your wedding at Oaklands Grand Lodge
Having your first dance at sunset either out on the front terrace or out back in the woodland is just EPIC! It's one of the reasons why I love it so much. Plus if you're wanting some family formal group photos there's the bridge over the lake just out front so you're not being taken away from the party and your guests for too long. It feels like you're still part of the reception for the 10/15 minutes it takes to do the family photos.
