Barff House Country Weddings | Featured Wedding Venue in East Yorkshire
Congratulations on your engagement! Now, it’s time to find the perfect venue to fit your wedding needs. If your dream wedding involves a country farmhouse setting and if finding a new venue, where few of your friends or family have likely visited is high on your priority list, I would suggest Barff House Country Weddings.
Why I Love It
I will admit that Barff House holds a special place in my heart. I was able to take part in the first wedding there when I was both a guest and a wedding photographer when my brother-in-law got married there in 2017. Scroll to the bottom of this page to see a full write up on their gorgeous celebration at Barff House Country Weddings in East Yorkshire. It is also the location for my own 2018 summer wedding. Watching the barn transformed from a grain store into a great event space just added to my love for this venue.
The Event Space: One Reason You’ll Love It
Barff House provides a great mix of indoor and outdoor space for your wedding. You can host your ceremony on the stone frontage of the two-story home. Also included with your wedding package is a marquee, with seating for up to 100 people. Combined with the lawn area, this is a great place to enjoy dinner and drinks before heading over to the recently renovated barn. With gorgeous lighting, the celebration can continue even once it gets dark. The barn provides plenty of space for dancing and even includes a stage specifically for your DJ or the band.
One thing I love about this venue is that you really can make the event your own. Also as part of your wedding package, you get to meet with Helen Davies, a fantastic and highly sought after wedding planner (click here to read about my top 4 reasons to hire a wedding planner). Whether you want a wedding breakfast or you prefer to just host the celebration in the afternoon and evening, she will work with you to ensure that you make the best of the space provided while also creating your dream wedding.
Overnight Accommodations: Another Reason You’ll Love It
Having convenient overnight accommodations is important for many couples after they get married. After a long, but great day of celebrating, no one wants to drive somewhere else for the night. The venue has two overnight locations. A two-night stay at these locations is included with your wedding package, giving you a place to stay both the night before and the night after your wedding.
The Shepherds Hut is surrounded by trees and is the perfect place to spend your first night as husband and wife. The Cart Shed, with three double rooms, provides a great location for your closest family and friends to spend the night. Plus, it’s a great place for the bride and her bridesmaids to get ready for the day. Along with the sleeping spaces, it has a living area and a kitchen. Between the two locations, the venue can sleep up to ten people. The bedrooms and other amenities at both locations are really great. You might find yourself wishing that you could stay another few days.
The Photo Opportunities: Maybe the Top Reason You’ll Love It
No wedding is complete without great photo opportunities, and this venue is definitely not lacking in the photo opportunities department. Because it is in a forest area, some of the best photo opportunities are outside. The trees and the gorgeous historic farmhouse provide great backdrops for pictures. The flowers around the property also look wonderful in photos. You’ll likely want a few pictures outside the barn as well as a few inside it, making sure that you really capture the beauty of this gorgeous renovated space. As the space is so large I found it particularly easy to mingle with the wedding guests and get those authentic natural photographs of everyone enjoying themselves, there’s nothing worse than being crammed into a dated hotel suite at a wedding!
So there you have it, my top reasons to seriusly have a look at Barff House for your special celebration, I’m having my wedding here in the summer of 2018 so if that isn’t a reccomendation then I don;t know what is! You can check out the first ever wedding at Barff House below.
